Lying to the doctor

For Mac‘s two year appointment we were waiting for the doctor to ask him questions directly. Both of us were a bit nervous about what she’d ask and what he’d say. He’s a bit of a wild card. 

Doctor: What’s your favorite thing to do?

Mac: Ummm... read books!

Doctor: And what do you like to eat?

Mac: Ummm... sandwiches?

High-five, kiddo. Making us look good. Because we all know the REAL answers are “watch TV” and “crackers”, respectively.

Wet shoes

At pickup. Cormac is rocking crocs ‘n socks because I am trying to let him make more wardrobe decisions. He gets over to the car and while standing in the middle of a puddle, removes his shoes (but not the socks) and chucks them into the open car door.  Me: Why did you take off your shoes?!  Mac: I didn’t want to get them wet.  Me: 🤦‍♀️

This is more of an entry for posterity although we did have some amazing conversations. We ended up with three stitches.  Mac was excited to ride in the ambulance with Mr Anthony and he was thrilled to be at the hospital. He was very brave, studied the suture book before getting his stitches, thanked the nurse for the numbing gel and used deep breathing to stay still through the stitches. He didn’t even cry although he asked if he would and I told him, “I don’t know”.  He charmed the staff with his musings and commentary, thanked everyone, and even got a Captain Phasma and Stormtrooper figure.  Doctor Roe told me Mac was the bravest little person he’s ever seen get stitches and he couldn’t believe his self control and cooperation. That’s our guy. ❤️
